Skydive Paraclete XP in Raeford, NC has become a hotspot for many of the best skydivers in the country.  Robin Jandle shares her passion for the sport and explains how it's made her a better person.  

For North Carolina is home to one of the best skydiving training facilities in the entire country. If you swing by there, you might meet a woman named Robin Jandal who just so happens to be one of the best sky divers in the world. That's Luke Notestein spent the day with Janel on her own turf. Once Robin Jandal took her first jump out of a plane over a decade ago, she knew that it was something she wanted to keep doing. Now, over 9400 jumps later, she's made quite a career out of her passion for her sport. One look at Jandals, Instagram page and you can almost feel the adrenaline rush flying through the screen. How would you describe the first time you went? What it felt like to do? I think it was overwhelming. She moved to Hawaii when she was 18 years old and the friend had to convince her to give skydiving a chance. Did my first tandem. I ended up absolutely loving it. And then from there on, I kind of transitioned from uh business management and then getting into being professional Jungle USA. And that's when she realized she could make a living doing something that brings her so much joy. At first, her parents were worried, but now my parents, they're actually really proud, like they're happy. Like they, they, I enjoy what I'm doing. You can make quite a bit of money being a professional skydiver. The reason that's true for Jandal is that she's become one of the best in the world at her specific discipline of the sport. She is a canopy pilot, professional canopy piloting is the entity of flying high performance wings. We have speed, discipline accuracy. So it's simple. Really, Jandal jumps out of a plane, she deploys her parachute at precisely the right time. Then she manipulates the parachute so that she can maneuver her body through a pattern that puts her in line to fly over a body of water called a swoop pond. And this body of water behind me called a swoop pond is the canvas on which her artistry takes shape. Normally the entry gates are set up like right in the middle of the pond and they're like 5 ft buoys. We try to like enter right here at this like one little marker. And then with like accuracy, we have to actually drag from that marker all the way to the end and then stand up in the box for like 100 points go Robin. She has earned several national records for speed through the course. She also set a world Cup record for distance as a result, she has been chosen to represent the United States in the World Championships of skydiving. Coming up this fall in South Africa. Will this be the first world championships you've been to world championships? Yes, I've been to two other World cups. This is a big deal. It's a big one. Yeah, all of this made possible. Thanks to her decision two years ago to move from Hawaii to rad North Carolina where skydive Perle XP has become a prime training ground for many of the most accomplished sky divers in the country. Everyone's training for the world championships or a World Cup coming up and most of them are here. Jandal loves the sport so much that she dedicates most of her time to it. Either competing instructing or even learning to fly the plane. There's a lot going on. That's exactly how she likes it flying through life with everything that she has one jump at a time. Seeing the game through the eyes of the fans can be exhilarating or heart-breaking depending on which shade of blue you prefer, UNC or Duke.  

There's nothing like the electricity and the energy in the building when Duke and Carolina meet up, especially when both teams are ranked in the top 10 in the country. As we found out there is nothing quite like this atmosphere here at the center. Tar Heel fans were brimming with confidence. Even before the game tipped off in Chapel Hill. When we wake up in the morning, we see a darker shade of blue and we know that our shade of blue is so much better. While Carolina blue jerseys dominated the landscape. A handful of courageous students from Durham were not afraid to bring props and strut into enemy territory. Tell me about the baby you got here. Yeah, the baby here is 19 years old. She's a tradition and she's ready to take down the target. The primary mission for the home crowd making the Dean Dome as loud as humanly possible picture this. You're eight years old in a trampoline park with 12,000 people. That's what this building is. Number one, number one, Dean Smith would have been proud because this building was vibrating with electricity all game long. The brilliance of Armando Bacot who played his best game of the season. The heels prevailed, sending the students into a frantic frolic toward Franklin Street where the party was just getting started. I feel great. I'm going to Franklin Street. I can run to a wall right now. Oh my gosh. Go in the euphoria that washes over the victor of this game brings about a giddiness that anything is possible in March. We are the best. And for those of you who just can't get enough college basketball, you're in luck because these two schools will do it all again in Durham on Saturday, March 9. In conclusion, the college basketball fans here in Chapel Hill can be pretty loud, especially when bragging rights are on the line between Carolina and Duke Luke Goldstein WRL Sports Chapel Hill.

UNC head coach, Hubert Davis talks about the willingness of his team to stand up for one another, especially during the Tar Heel victory over Notre Dame on Saturday. 

I did, I thought they were fantastic. I really do you know, one of the things that we talked about that we just need is we need energy, consistent energy and consistent production coming off the bench and I thought puff was really good demarco jailing Justin whoever came off the bench. I just, I thought they brought energy. They brought life um solid plays on both ends of the floor and you know, that's what we need and um they played extremely well today and I was really proud of them Well, one of the things that we, we thought about was how can we match up with them defensively? Like so in terms of my decisions on who to start the game, which doesn't for me really mean much, you know, I don't put a lot into starting at all, but what, what I was thinking was what could start us off in the best position defensively in terms to match up with them. And so um Seth is a gifted defender, he played extremely well um in the Wake Forest game and we felt like we wanted to start the game like that. Yeah, well you know what, um, what I loved about his game today was, you know, For him, it's yeah, yeah, made you know, shots today. But um, what puff consistently, we need him to consistently bring is that energy and that effort on both ends of the floor. He's like one of those guys that just get those 50, 50 loose balls. He's a great offensive rebounder and so that's an area where we desperately need to improve in terms of getting second chance opportunities. He's a guy with size that can play multiple positions and um, we just need him out there to play consistent and play well and he played extremely well today and I was really happy for him. Yeah, he's, he's like gets dramatically better every day. Um, but he wasn't well enough to play today. So my hope is, is that he'll be ready to practice tomorrow, if not tomorrow. My expectation and hope is he'll practice on monday and then be ready for Tuesday. But um, the thing with his back, it's, there's two things, one, they had to get it to a place where the muscles would, you know, relax where they're now now just trying to keep his hips stable and aligned. That's the thing hold held in place and so if it can continue to be held in place and that's the final step for him to play. And my hope is that he'll be ready against Virginia on Tuesday night potentially by sending this area over there, I really was, you know, one of the things that I told the team, um, um, particularly against Notre dame is that like, and for everybody, but you know, we have to win our one on one matchups and there has to be a competitive nature, a pride of, I can guard my guy and I don't need any help and I felt like everybody that played today, um took that challenge and really won their one on one matchup. And that helped us so much defensively from the standpoint of we didn't have to help. You know, one of the things with Notre Dame is where they are so good at is like when they get teams into rotations off a drive and kick their their brilliant at it. And so, you know, today, because of our one on one defense, we weren't in a lot of rotations and 14 that shoots a lot of threes. I think they only took 18 threes today. It was because of our individual one on one defense and and how good it was today doesn't sound body well. You know, one of the things that I love about Seth is many things, you know, we've we've talked about how good he is on the defensive end and how gifted he is in guarding the ball. Um he's extremely athletic and quick and he has the ability to defend as you can see even bigger defender, bigger offensive players. It's very difficult to even post them up. And so he's he's he's really special on that end. And then on the offensive end, I think he's becoming more comfortable and more confident in terms of his ability to be able to get to the basket and once he gets to the basket he can use his athleticism to be able to create a shot for himself and also his teammates and so when he's on the floor with RJ and Caleb now you've got three playmakers, three guys off the bounce, one on one situations that can create a shot for themselves and for their teammates. And so you know, that's that's good news for us offensively and bad news for the opponent. Huh? Yeah, I didn't see much of it. I don't like um technical fouls but um I love our team standing up for each other and Caleb standing up for um for puff. I support that. I encourage that I can uh every day and uh that's what one of the many things that makes Caleb such a great teammate. So Armando. Yes, he is. We worked on it, we worked on it because at the beginning of the year it was it was a little shaky. And every day I practice over the last two weeks we've worked on it. We've just put together just basic drills just to work on an individual workout. We've worked on it to get him more comfortable one when when the double team comes, we've also worked with him in terms of getting him more comfortable where it comes from whether it comes from the top or the baseline and then we've gotten him more comfortable at where his where his outlets are, where the guys are gonna be. So that when a double team comes, he knows exactly where his teammates are gonna be. So he can pass the ball out of the post. I think a great example of that is in the second half when he made the cross court pass to R. J. I don't think that's something that he could have made at the beginning of the year today, he was able to make it and R. J. Had a wide open three we've got yeah. Oh it's big too big. Yeah, we'll tweak it, we'll take a look. They double big too big. I didn't know that that maybe helps you guys not get stuck on on those recognition. That helps, that helps by working on it. Well it is, you know, there's a number of parts, you know, like in the first half give you an example where we didn't do it really well, you know, he got double teamed in the post and everybody was spacing, Armando I was open but there was nobody cutting towards him. And so during the 32nd time out we talked about spacing but we also talked about giving him an outlet. Well the next time down they double team and that's when we hit puff on the baseline, he was able to get that and one with the left hand jump hook and so there's growth there and we're getting better and Armando is getting better at recognizing when it's coming, where it's coming and we've also tweaked and pivot and adjusted some of our place to put them in positions where you can't get double teamed and so that's stuff that we've worked on and talked about as well. Yes. Well no, it's like really scripted. I mean it's like five on five and we know it's coming from the top five on five, we know it's coming from the bottom and just to get him a little bit more familiar of where it's coming from and then an individual work, just the footwork for him to be able to retreat, dribble face up to his players so that he can clearly see how to get the ball um out of the double team. And we also encourage him this, there's no double team if you really post deep in the paint. And so if you get closer to the basket by the time the double team it's already two points. So we've encouraged him to do that. If you don't want to get double teamed. Yeah. Why? Well I don't, I think our, I I like how many more guys that were playing? I mean the other game was it? Wait for us, we play 10 guys tonight? We played nine. and so um you know what, I'll tell you this and I said this to you guys before there were two games last year where I felt like we were tired and it was not the reason why we lost the Virginia tech in the A. C. C. Tournament in Kansas international championship game and I just for us to be the best team that we for us to become, we have to have depth and we have to have guys that can come off the bench and give us consistent minutes. I think the cool thing about about our team, it could come in many different directions. You know, today it was puffing demarco the other night, it was just in in jail and the next day it could be uh, you know, don trees and Tyler and so um as I said before, um I'm I'm an opportunity coach. You will always get a chance with me plain and simple period. The end I just cannot guarantee you when, where how in the manner in which so that when your number's called, when you have to be ready and we have a team of guys that win their numbers call, they'll be ready to perform. They're coming up. Yeah. I like when he's aggressive, I do, you know, he's he's the best individual defender in the country. But I like when he's aggressive as well, you know, I like when he attacks the basket because he's he's long and he's athletic and you know when he's open, I want him shooting the basketball and one of the places that he feels really comfortable is that corner three and so you know, in our sets in our place a lot of times we have him right there where he feels most comfortable and um if he's open, I want him to shoot the ball, you know, because um, the more that he's, and this like leaky doesn't take bad shots, you know, tell people to be aggressive, you know, sometimes you tell somebody aggressive like whoa, you know, because it could get all over the place, but for guys like leaky, like he takes good shots and so, um, that's what we want for him. We, we want him to be aggressive on the offensive end. And uh, a lot of part of the second half, he made some, you know, um, definitive moves on the offensive end and it really helped us. Um, oh, from the pit game. Yeah. Well yeah, no, one of the things that I love about our guys is that, that we always get back up and it's something that I talked to him about a lot that in basketball this year with this team and in life you're gonna get knocked down and you're gonna have rainy days and speed bumps and potholes and you can whine and complain and make excuses and point fingers and stay down or you can get back up and continue to compete, continue to fight and continue to get better. And This team always has responded in that way. And so I would take it even further, you know, not just the response from the pick game, I would take it even further from the four games that we lost and now we've won six out of seven and so, um, does that mean to stop? No. But um, that's a sign of a tough team, a resilient team and that's the type of team that I love being associated and being around.

coming in and playing great defensively Notre Dame and great experience team and we've had trouble with them a lot because they can really shoot the ball. And I thought today we did a really good job to the best of ability through my life. Talking about that defensive performance. You'll have to notice you limited to only 13 point attempt today. And he's kind of had a history of draining threes on the heels. What did y'all do to take? Yeah, well we made an emphasis all week and kind of limited him because he's had monster games and I mean he still played a good game today, but we were able to switch everything. And I think that really kind of threw them off because I usually don't get all five players I can switch out and guard everybody. And I thought today we did a good job switching yesterday. Coach Davis said that the last 10 minutes of wake forest game, we're almost a blueprint of what your defense should be. How much did you guys talk about that? Yeah, well, I mean we watched a good amount of film on the way for his game and kind of saw the bad things we did defensively during the good things. And then we went back and watched the film versus Notre Dame last year. And I mean, we were very bad defensively last year there and I thought we were able to kind of look at some of the mistakes we made and I mean it's the same exact team, Same coaching staff in Notre Dame. So we knew we'd be running the same stuff. So we just really got a chance to kind of reflect, I know how we're gonna go about defending them almost double double. Did you know like you wake up feeling some type of way every day that you're going to achieve that goal? Yeah, I mean, I knew today I get a double double because you know, today may never really crash the boards on the offense. So I knew it would be a lot of rebounds for me. But I mean, I was trying to get 20 rebounds a day. I thought I would, but I don't know the second half. I guess I didn't get to the boards good enough back to back games by you guys as a team. You guys feel like you're hitting your stride as the season rolls on here. I don't know every time I say something about so I don't know, we're just taking it game by game. I thought we played good. I thought we played solid. We got a good effort from everybody played good minutes. Marcos was great filling in for Pete today. So Jalen Washington just in all of them. They play good, especially with such an early game today. How important was it to come out? Yeah, I mean, I love the early games. We love the game because we come in and win and then we get to have fun tonight. So I ain't mad at it. Mondo if I'm not mistaken. You haven't worn these throwbacks since your freshman year. Right. Are you one of the many in favor of using the department informs? Yeah, I like them. I mean, I think it's good to get them in this season. But I mean, I would honestly like to wear a lot more different alternative jerseys all throughout the season. But I mean classic jerseys are like I said, classic. So I do like the black ones. I'll bring them back. I know we lost every time we wore them, but I don't mind it though. I still wear Mando. This is the first time in your career. You've had five games in a row with over 20 plus points. Just curious how is the shoulder, because I feel like you're playing better this year than you were last year. We just have to do. Yeah, Well, I mean it's definitely getting better. I mean, I feel like I'm almost all the way back. I mean it's still a few things I probably dealing with the rest of you. But I mean, I really have no complaints playing and I feel good. So yeah, I got no complaints

the defender kind of kicked him in the face. And so, um, you know, I didn't, I didn't appreciate that and you know, I'm gonna stick up for my teammates and that's what, that's what I did, being able to have your teammates back. How important is it when you go through a long season and you face a lot of adversity, How important is it to have that kind of family atmosphere? That's just the type of culture we have here in Carolina and so, um, you know, just, and that's the type of player I am that I've always been. And so, um, anything, um, any circumstance or situation, I'm always gonna have my teammates back. You guys came out with a lot of energy today, 11 30 game. It's challenging to kind of get yourself going this early in the morning and not really, I mean now we're doing, we're playing a game and we love to play and so, you know, we're doing what we love to do with people that we love to be with. And so, um, we were playing for a team that we, you know, we been dreaming to play for. So I don't think it was a factor that it was so early, but I'm glad we got to win. You hit a three early on and got another bucket. How important was it for you to get going offensively? It was great. You know, just seeing the ball go through, um, going through what, you know, the, not slump, but the bad shooting games for the last two games. And so just seeing the ball go through is definitely great for me. You guys are well balanced today. Armando had a big game, had a good game off the bench. Was this a complete game for you guys? Yeah, for sure. We got a lot to work on. So, um, you know, I definitely think we could have been better. So, um, you know, we're gonna get back to the drawing board and prepare for a leadership role. Are you trying to take this year, a big one? You know, just not only my voice but in my play and not only on the office, but on both ends of four. I'm trying to wrap it up on the defensive end, um, locking down anybody that our garden. Um, just just taking that assignment, I'm very proud, you know? Um, but you know, when I do say that, um, I also say that we got, we got a lot of, a lot to work on it. So, um, I just want us to, you know, build off these last two games and keep going

Love: Any situation or circumstance, I'm always going to have my teammate's back

straight huge minutes. He played really well. Seth leaky, the market goes down the line. But you know, today was a complete Carolina basketball game. You guys were up nine last week pit and a couple of you said you took a deep breath and got back in tonight. They cut it to seven, you guys going in 87 I think we would just sit in the locker room and said this is you usually where we take a deep breath just because we're up a lot and let's not take our foot off the gas and they started making little come come back. But we was able to have momentum momentum on our side and uh tighten up on the defensive end and make shots when it needed a lot of stuff from a lot of, you know, we're gonna need that going uh to finish out the rest of the year. You know, the bench is key for us. You know, we got some talented players off the bench so um and they continue to play the way they're playing. You know, we're gonna be really good, never want to have injuries, but how much does you know, guys like puff and Jalen getting more opportunities help in the long run? Not only does it help us, but helps them boost their confidence, has them get there, get them out on the floor and have them the ability to, when we get down to those clutch games that we need them, they're able to step up in the big moment. So we're gonna need that and I'm so proud of what practice for those guys because it doesn't seem to be aligned the reason to coaches substitution. I mean coach Davis has a, you know, a key emphasis on, you know, coaching effort. Um, and I think the guys have really dialed in on that and have it in the back of your mind that each day in practice, you know, we're gonna go africa after it, we're gonna compete um, because you know, we want, we need a bench players to come in and be that spark plug for us. So they've really used that as a mindset and step into, from a mindset for you. What does that do when you guys get such big performances from those bench guys and the guys that usually don't contribute a lot of points that make your job mentally easier. I mean for 100% makes my job easier, allows me to get them the ball and a couple of sets for me. But uh, also I like to see, you know, them excited and happy for them and that's my main thing. They're all newcomers, they all have goals that you want to set and I just want them to reach it. So, um, it makes me happy excited when they're playing to the potential that can be said yesterday was kind of like getting better. So we knew like about yesterday kind of confirmed this morning. I didn't, I didn't have the inside scoop on that. I think that the energy was good. Um, not just from us, but from the bench as well. Uh, just kind of, we felt alive a little bit early game. So I feel like we all, we all needed that energy to help us, you know, kind of get out there and get a good start to a good team. So the energy was really good and hopefully we can build off of that, uh, super happy for him. His ability to always say defending his energy is something never gonna need. He's been playing really well and I'm super happy for him. 1st, 1st start. It's a really technical question, but I wanted to ask you about the other night, four assists today. And yeah, so it's not just the last two games for the big guy. Um, I mean, I just feel like he's not sort of giving into the double teams. I'm not trying to talk you into it, but like what do you, what have you, what have you noticed from? I feel like he's picked it up in that department. Yeah, I mean he knows that double team is gonna come in here knows that like he's a threat down there. So he's gonna be facing about two or three guys. So he's willing to pass the ball and make plays for us and make plays for himself as well. So I think that's what he's starting to realize that he was able to find open guys. He's been doing a great job at it, especially like nine assistant pastor games. It's crazy.

UNC's Puff Johnson talks about how the Tar Heels have become a tight knit group this season following the win over Notre Dame on Saturday. 

like I said before I just keep on working every day and I know that uh just I just got to keep on working no matter what happens. Just put my head down and just keep on working and like I keep on saying just just trying each and every day to become the best possible for sure for sure. Some of the some of the stuff on the court, what does that say about him? That's for sure with the amount of time that we spend, not just uh me, him and other players just time this team spends together just really shows on the court and you can see like because I didn't know what happened and you can see that he had my back even though I was confused about what happened and I didn't even watch the replay. I didn't even see what happens. I didn't the most I saw was played on the big board up top. But yeah, I just know he has my back and just the whole team that's not just him, the whole team has everyone's back and worse. We're very very connected as a unit. So that really just shows that there's a lot of talk about the minutes but you guys have been stepping up. We just like I said, we just got to stay ready and that's the biggest thing and just treat every single practice and every single game I get your last you didn't feel a kick in the head there after you hit the floor. I honestly don't remember. I thought I ran into the camera guys because I know I was near the camera guy. So I thought I hit the camera guys, but I didn't even see the replay. I didn't even, cause like at that point my eyes are probably closed. Honestly, if you look at it, I'm imagine my eyes were closed. So you, so you were wondering what Caleb was? I didn't know what happened. I honestly thought he was defending me because I thought he fell on the guy, fell on me. I had no idea how I didn't even, I gotta rewatch watching. You kind of mentioned it how this team fights for one another. You know, and I feel like people from the outside looking in and been like, okay, what's going on with this group? So what does that show about this group? You mentioned the fight, the closeness, but the fact that you guys are willing to go all the way for one another, for sure. We've been through the, like I said before, we've been to the highest close and you could even throw it last year in an example because we just like this is basically the same team plus a couple of freshmen and a couple of transfers and we just like we've been through a lot together and it really shows how much we've been through together through the highs and lows, through the mediums, through the wind streaks to the losing streaks and it just shows how much we've been together and plays like that. Do you feel like the other night victory over the turning point in this season? Um Yeah, I mean, we just read every single game like, uh it's our last and we just tried our hardest each and every game to put our best foot forward. So even if that's uh tomorrow and practice or the next day in practice or when we go play at Virginia, it was a good team. We just got to put our best foot forward and see what happens. What does coach tell you like in a game like this couple where you didn't even play in the is anything that tells, you know, I know, I know that um you got to be ready when your number is called. That's a big thing. He always harps on. So that's a, just a big thing. I've been uh just uh, doing my whole career. Just just be ready when your number is called. And that's just a big thing that we all harp on as a team and that he harps on. So that's all it was

Luke Notestine explains how NC State freshman quarterback, MJ Morris has quickly become a respected leader for the the Wolfpack football team.  Morris made his first career college start Saturday night, leading NC State to a 30-21 win over Wake Forest.  

N. C. State played a complete game, saturday night beating Wake Forest 30 to 21 after the game the crowd was chanting the name of freshmen Starting quarterback. Mj Morris. He racked up 253 yards of total offense three touchdowns and no turnovers. As a result he won over the home crowd and convinced his teammates that he's the leader that they need and I'm super proud of you know we all play as a team in the locker room everything man. It's just it's just the love we have is special. Making his first career start for the wolf pack. Morris was calm under pressure and kept N. C. State in control of this game. I love fans. Thank you for believing in me he's undefeated too. According to his teammates. Morris brings an exuberant energy to this team at just the right time. Seeing him have the energy to make a play. And he got more energy and confidence is just like like once he once he going he got energy like nothing stopping him. He's not scared of nothing. His infectious personality seemed to permeate all phases of the Wolfpack team, saturday night. The defense had three interceptions and special teams were crucial in the victory. He's got the players playing hard for him. They believe in him. He's taking care of the football. He's way ahead of where he probably we thought he would be at this point in his career. This is the 16th consecutive home win for N. C. State tying the program record set back in the 19 seventies when Lou Holtz was the head coach.
